RIGHT

to celebrate the fact that 2010 is going to be an absolute wing-dinger for northern irish music AND at this moment there are two local acts in the itunes alternative top 20 (this and this) here's ten northern irish tracks that have been played loads at sketchy. (all youtube links. no uploads, cause they might actually know where i live)

two door cinema club - i can talk couple of different remixes of this have been played the last wee while, but the original slays the most. anything from their album could go down well TBF, it's just that off the flamin' hook.
general fiasco - rebel get by bit weird watching enda from the band dancing along last time this was played at sketchy....
panama kings - young blood ditto GBOL/lunatic singer niall from panama kings....
alloy menal - god is green this has been played forty seven thousand times at the club in the last four and a bit years.
phil kieran - skyhook 1 demented ginger prince phil kieran has also had a few of his tunes badly mixes at sketchy ;-)
andsoiwatchyoufromafar - s is for salamander skibunny remix of 'don't waste time....' FTW but as it's not on youtube... (it's on this downloadable mix though)
chemical brothers - star guitar (japanse popstars remix) we've played loads of their own productions, but fuck it, this remix is sublime and needs your attention immediately.
david holmes - 69 police few tracks of his have been played, but this is a favourite for early doors.
boxcutter - foxy boxcutter is mostly bate out in the bar, but this track has defo seen some main room action.
ash - ROWR couple of awesome remixes of this knocking about n' all

good times. good bleedin' times.

HEYO!

GUESTLIST IS NOW (prematurely) OPEN for Thursday night. As the big dog usually states, just fill out the wee box and please only ask for yourself (unless the hound ate your mates router etc.) and you shall be notified by Thursday afternoon if you're on! Some requests and comments on the blog always help..

Last weeks pictures are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rizzo1/sets/72157623512237682/

As Rigsy's currently tumbling down Les Deux Alps as I write, he is in no fit shape to carry out his normal sketchy duties. Therefore, it's myself Mark on the blog this week with the double-trouble, djing master combo that is the two Paul's in the club on Thursday, alongside the wonderful Miss Donna Legge in the Kitten Bar. Pure Beaut!

Anyway, considering it's now March/Spring and the winter seems to have finally died off, I thought I'd draw up a new Top 10 Tunage Chart to start of the new season. 10 Tracks I've been diggin' lately and enjoy droping at the disco. So here we are:

1. Audio Bullies - Only Man
2. Gramophonedzie - Why Don't You (*WHO ARE PLAYING AT THE STIFF KITTEN THIS SATURDAY!*)
3. Yeasayer - ONE (XChange Remix)
4. Marina & The Diamonds - Hollywood (French Soler Remix)
4. Gorillaz - Stylo (Alex Metric Remix)
5. Rihanna - Rude Boy (say what you like, but I'm loving that dubstep-esque bassline).
6. Two Door Cinema Club - I Can Talk
7. Calvin Harris - The Rain
8. Tinie Tempah - Pass Out
9. Riva Starr (Ft. Noze) - I Was Drunk
10.General Fiasco - Ever So Shy (simply because it's currently in the Radio1 B playlist!)

That's about it then!

Over n out.

GUESTLIST OPEN for thursday february 25th! apply via the form on the bottom left of this page - but as always priority to those of you who comment on the blog (a request will do!!) and please only ever ask for yourself! oh, and one application per IP address - guestlist spaces are limited and LOADS Of people ask for them so its really unfair to give a load away to the same person!!

no tuneage uploads this week (sorry, but my computer is being a DICK) so just to remind you of our LOVELY PODCAST PAGE where you can listen to our WE ARE PARTY mix from last year right now. DO IT!!

Also, just to say that from now on we'll also be giving away loads of guestlist via our facebook page and on twitter - so please join up to both if you want to triple your chances of getting in free to our weekly parties at the stiff kitten.

that'll do cause i'm tired and a bit grumpy at the moment cause i'm cold and my football team are RUBBISH.

GUESTLIST OPEN FOR TOMORROW - fill in the wee form bottom left of this page!
will pick names at random (those most people who ask, get!) and email them before 2pm tomorrow.

PLEASE only ask for yourself - it's a real pet hate of mine when people ask for plus ones (or more!!) when there's people who ask just for themselves and don't get on! so if you ask for more than just yourself, your message is ignored....sorry!

anyway......

few tunes for y'all to check out - this week courtesy of another regular called Dave Cullen. Dave is clearly a man with exquisite taste - in fact i'll be trackin down a few of these to drop tomorrow night. if you'd like to share some tunes here some week - email me - rigsy@sketchyclub.com - plus three on the guestlist up for grabs!!

over to dave, then....

Groove Armada - Not Forgotten
Groove Armada telling us that they have a really good memory. And are very good at writing songs!

Bloc Party - Ares (Villains Remix)
Awesome remix. Would definitely love to hear this more at Sketchy.

Klaxons - As Above, So Below (Justice Remix)
Class tune. Better remix.

Unkle - Restless (Fake Blood Remix)
If you don't dance to this you have something severely wrong with you.

Marmaduke Duke - Skin The Mofo
Skin the Muthafucka Aliiive! F Sharp. Geee. F Sharp.

Muse - Uprising (Does It Offend You, Yeah? Remix)
This remix gives me an uprising. In my pants.

Jack Beats - Get Down (Original Mix)
Pure unadulterated filth.

Justice - D. A. N. C. E. (MSTRKRFT Remix)
Do as they say.

Fake Blood - I Think I Like It (Original Mix)
I Think I Like this song. No wait, I know it.

Jaydiohead - Wrong Prayer
Jay Z Vs. Radiohead..................... Who'd win?

NWA - Express Yourself
Classic hip-hop. Dre. & Co. express themselves. Maybe Tinchy fucking Stryder etc
should try it.

Millionaires - Alcohol
Lyrical genius?? The female version of The Beatles?

good, eh?

until next time....

At tomorrow night's Sketchy, we present a DJ battle to the death. It's washed up, over the hill resident Rigsy v fresh faced, young turk Chris Mc Cormick!!

:>

Meanwhile....a regular at the club called ryan is going to be snooping about with a camera or two making a video mini-doc about the club this thursday :-) if anyone would like to volunteer to contribute a little vox pop (it'll be footage of the club, a few talking heads, loads of decent music etc) please let me know - rigsy@sketchyclub.com and i'll put you in touch with andrew (and make sure you get guestlist plus one!!)

all you'd have to do is chat to him for literally a couple of minutes about your experiences at the club.

FOLLOW US ON TWITTER for more guestlist action!

last weeks playlist is online....

and guestlist for tomorrow (11th) is now open! usual 'rules' apply - please only ask for yourself and one request per URL (unless you explain there's more than one person uses the line). use the wee form on this page and everyone on the list will get an email reply by tomorrow lunchtime.

this week, sketchy regular andrew sterling has picked a few tunes he'd like to hear more at the club, so over to andrew....

Voodoo Chilli - Street players Classic bucketheads track sampled with a few extra beats to spice it up for the dancefloor!
Cold Blank - Doin it Right (The Squatters Remix) Another track with an old school
disco sample. squatters a big one to watch out for in 2010
DJ Rob 3 - The Chase Baltimore club bomb. nuf said. it'll wreck the place on a big system!
Redlight (aka clipz) - Feels So Good beatbeak influenced foray into house by clipz.
Standardly big
Boy 8 bit - City Under Siege Another heavily baltimore club inspired tune. Dancefloor destroyer!
The Klaxons - Its Not Over (Skream Remix) Gotta have a bit of dubstep! Old tune but nice appeal, would go well with usual Sketchy stuff.

andrew, a man with exquisite taste ffs

again, if you wanna whack up a few tunes on the blog some week - email me with BLOG TAKEOVER in subject - rigsy@sketchyclub.com

it's myself and newbie chris mc cormick in the club tomorrow, paul hamill in the bar.
